Is it legal to look up who’s behind a phone number?

Looking up contact information for identification, skip tracing, fraud investigation, or legal process is generally permitted. What you do next — calling or texting that person — is governed separately by the TCPA and Do-Not-Call rules. See our Compliance page.

Can I use this for skip tracing or serving legal papers?

Yes — that’s one of the most common uses. Skip tracers, process servers, and investigators use phone-to-email lookups to find a current contact channel for someone they need to locate.

How many free lookups do I get per day?

Free lookups are capped per IP address per day. If you hit the limit, you can wait until the next day, or get an API key at openappend.com — the trial is self-serve and includes 100 free lookups, with prepaid credit packs after that.

What if there’s no email on file for a number?

We tell you plainly — no guessing or partial matches. Some numbers, especially newer or prepaid ones, simply aren’t linked to an email in our data.

Is there an API for looking up numbers programmatically?

Yes. api.phone-to-email.com exposes a single endpoint — one phone number in, its matching emails back out. Each call handles one number; there’s no batch endpoint yet.

Do you sell or share the numbers I search?

No. Your searches are used only to run the lookup and enforce the daily rate limit. We don’t sell your search history.
